No Slouch Shirt
Wearable Technology
Project Description
I decided to make a shirt that could detect your posture and remind you to straighten up your back with led lights. Green means you're sitting up straight and the white light sparkle animation means you have perfect posture. Yellow means you're a little slouched, and red means you are very slouched.
Design Challenge
Sew a shirt, fit to our measurements, and enhance it with responsive code using the CPX. Make code “responsive” to a stimulus of our choice (i.e. sound, light, temp, acceleration) and light at least 5 LEDs.
MY ROLE
I completed this project individually as part of Professor Lopez’s CIM489 Wearable Technology class.
TIMELINE
Spring 2023, 2 week timeline
TOOLS
Circut Playground Express, LEDs, Makecode
Process
I created a concept sketch for a responsive shirt circuit. I found my patterned and sewed it using muslin. Using the accelerometer on the CPX I did lots of testing to see exactly where the LED's should change color.
Results
The result was a corset style prototype top with an LED strip that lets you know different levels of your slouch.
